Common Ground / Terre AtelierSlip-cast porcelain. Tangerine and terracotta glazes.
Useful forms.
Unexpected empty space.
Common Ground begins with the space a vessel leaves open. The jug becomes an inflated rectangular portal, holding water around a generous central opening rather than inside a conventional cylinder.
A large side loop and short corner lip make that frame useful. Beside it, a bulbous cup meets an oversized torus handle, while a low bowl opens into three soft lobes.
The jug holds water around a rounded rectangular void.
Portal, torus, and clover forms share a warm, inflated material language.
A family built
around absence.
- A reservoir as a frame
- The jug holds water inside its hollow rectangular body. An external loop leaves room for the hand, while the opposite upper corner becomes a short pouring lip.
- Related, without repeating
- The cup pairs a bulbous body with a generous torus handle. The bowl spreads into three pillowy lobes. Each interprets the same rounded edge at a different scale.
- Glaze that describes the form
- Glossy tangerine catches a continuous highlight along the jug and bowl; a darker terracotta cup adds depth. The warm glazes connect the family without flattening its differences.
